Tom is from the United Kingdom and has lived in Chile since the year 2000. He has worked as an EFL teacher, teacher trainer and project manager in different EFL initiatives at school, institute, university and national levels (with the Ministry of Education). Prior to that, he worked for the British Council in Chile for 4 years, developing and managing projects such as “Champion Teachers”, an innovative Exploratory Action Research scheme for school teachers of English. He is currently the Senior Academic Advisor for the Books & Bits Educational group and has been volunteering for IATEFL Chile since 2010. He became President in 2012, and was reelected in 2017.

Isabel studied Linguistics, Literature and English at the Universidad de Chile, and holds a postgraduate Diploma from the same university on the design, evaluation and management of projects of public interest. In her professional life, she has been involved in the design, development and administration of corporate English language programs, including curriculum design and editorial production of pedagogical material. She has also led multidisciplinary work teams focused on the development and implementation of training programs for the acquisition of technical competences at the workplace. She was Director of the English Opens Doors Program of the Ministry of Education between 2010 and 2016, and is currently the Director of English at The British Council in Chile.
Alejandro Naveas

Alejandro Naveas

Alejandro was born in Santiago and trained as an EFL teacher at Universidad de Chile. He also holds an M.A. in Applied Linguistics in ELT from the University of Lancaster, United Kingdom. His professional interests are in methodology for language teachers, curriculum and syllabus design. He is a lecturer at Universidad de Santiago, freelance academic consultant and the Cambridge Assessment English Regional Team Leader for Chile and Peru. Currently he is a teacher trainer and Director of International Relations and Community Work at Universidad Chileno Británica de Cultura.

Pia is an International Administrator from Universidad de Valparaiso. She worked at the English Opens Doors Program (Mineduc) coordinating the Initial English Teacher training Seminars (2012-2016). Currently she is studying Jewelry and Design.
